Got a chance to go to Singapore, so I tried anime pilgrimage.

Last November, I had a business trip to Singapore for a few days. After a tight schedule, I finally got some free time to spend so I walked around Marina Bay zone and realized that the place is used as a reference in an anime, A Place Further Than the Universe (Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho).

Last November, I had a business trip to Singapore for a few days. After a tight schedule, I finally got some free time to spend so I walked around Marina Bay zone and realized that the place is used as a reference in an anime, A Place Further Than the Universe (Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho). So, I walked around and took some shots that resemble the anime scenes.

For more information about the series see: Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho. First, the view of the bay to Marina Bay Sands hotel, this scene is easy to shoot because its scale almost 1 to 1 with anime scene.

After that I go straight to the most famous landmark of Singapore, the Merlion. It was so crowded and packed with tourists. I gave up to take a photo with no people in it LOL.

This photo is the place where Kimari and others get out of boat taxi to the Merlion.

And this one it a better look of Merlion itself. It was hard to get closer for better match to the scene. Here's the result.

What interested me is, the middle building. Not sure if the anime production team decided not to put it in the scene or it was not constructed by that time they took the reference.

Next is a night scenes of Singapore which I really like it. Start with the rooftop of Marina Bay Sands, where you can see another landmark, Garden by the Bay top view and the sea. Light from both buildings and boat is really beautiful up there.

Actually, I couldn't find the perfect spot to match the anime scene. But I think it close enough.

And to the last photo I've taken. this one is far from perfect, because I didn't have time to walk further at that night and need to get back to my room and prepare stuff for another working day. The Helix Bridge.

Seeing the reference make me think that, with light reflection on water would be nice. Anyway, this is what I took on that trip. I don't know why the Helix Bridge illumination is red while many photos is blue. My assumption is that it was near Christmas and many places in Singapore were decorated for Christmas since that time (early November, so fast).

That's all the photos I've taken. Hope you guys enjoy this blog. :)
